I build transistor fuzz pedals based on classic designs. I think they're pretty awesome. Still, as nasty and splatty as they can get, I wanted to make something even nastier. Then I thought of a kazoo. They're fuzzy and buzzy just with humming, so could I run a guitar signal into one? Turns out - YES!
In comes the Fuzzoo. Your guitar signal goes through a small amp into a speaker fitted into a kazoo, just under the membrane. Then a microphone picks that up and brings it up to line level.
How does it sound? Exactly what it should sound like! The fuzz tone comes from two elements - the kazoo membrane, and the poor little speaker driving it. So there's speaker distortion and membrane distortion. It's a lovely combo!
